CRAFT
Design is intricately connected it's materials. The spaces and objects inherit the benefits and disadvantages of the materials used to create them. Without a hands on understanding of those materials, a designer is limited in their creativity to properly express their features. As part of the firm, our workshop allows the team to engage with new ideas and form a creative but tangible design environment. Below are some of the various projects that have come from experimenting and working with raw materials.
Walnut Coffee Table
Cleanly cut from 2" thick American Black Walnut, the angles of this table express itself in a modern form with beautiful grain and figuring.
Hammer Tap Handles
While working at the Fifth Hammer Brewery, it was only fitting to experiment with placing threaded inserts in old hammers.
Wedding Rings
With a centrifugal caster available, it's hard to pass up the opportunity to design, carve from wax, and cast the rings for a wedding.

Experimenting with 1/4" brass threaded rods, this side table stabilizes through the collective tension and sheer forces of 15 continuous rods.

This winebox is an intricate and unique creation of antique brass hardware, antique locks, and American Black Walnut.
